Renew

Every Wednesday from 12-2pm our well-being cafe meets for a variety of hobbies and activities. These are run by the community for the community. Anyone is welcome to share a hobby or skill and anyone is welcome to join an activity. You can come and relax and chat or enjoy the peace in our quiet area.

The activities are based around the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’ which promote good mental and emotional health. To connect, give, be active, keep learning, and take notice will hopefully contribute towards a preventative approach to mental ill health.

CAP

STBBC has been involved with Christians Against Poverty for many years running Money Management courses, helping people at all stages in life to understand their finances and make more informed decisions. In 2014 we opened the first Debt Centre in Southend in conjunction with 15 other churches in the area.  In the first two years of operation we have seen over 100 clients and so far 16 have gone debt free.

Debt advice is provided by experts at CAP and our task locally is to help clients sort through their paperwork and present a budget that has been prepared by CAP.

We also provide emotional and practical support for clients with a team of befrienders who accompany us on visits. We share our faith with any clients who are interested and offer to pray for clients who are happy to be prayed for. The service we provide is available to anyone regardless of age, gender, faith or background.

If you would like to ask for help dealing with debt you can call 0800 328 0006 or visit the website.

SCHOOL READERS

A small team of dedicated volunteers from STBBC regularly visit our local primary schools to support staff and children by reading stories at story time.
