THE CROSS PROJECT
In searching for a new cross to display in our Sanctuary we made the decision not to purchase one and instead created an ongoing project that people can get involved in. The Cross Project enables us to have a variety of creative crosses available for display that our community has worked on and contributed to.
Our first cross was made from driftwood, sea glass and pottery collected on local beaches by people connected with our church and the wider community. It represents the fact that we are all broken but through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross we are given a new purpose and together can become something beautiful.
People of all ages had the opportunity to glue a chosen piece onto the cross with some wanting to be at the foot and others on the outstretched arms. Many chose particular pieces because the shape and colour had a deep significance to them.
